The Mike Mahler Aggressive Strength Testosterone Booster  

There are so many testosterone boosters out there, all claiming to contain the miracle ingredient. I was looking for a quick fix back in 2014 and tried a few myself, though I never had any great success (instead I found success with lifestyle, diet & training changes). A year later, with my numbers now solid I kept hearing about a testosterone booster that "actually worked".

 
 

What was it? Well it was put together by a guy named Mike Mahler and it's called Aggressive Strength Testosterone Booster & Estrogen Control. Generally I would just brush off these claims as more internet marketing fluff. But then I started hearing things from people I knew and trusted.

Colleagues and fitness professionals who I knew well and had worked with started saying they were having positive results while taking Aggressive Strength. Sharing this feedback with some of my clients, two of them decided to try it for themselves. Again, both had great results..

  

The Science

Always seeking an edge and understanding the benefits of higher testosterone (increases muscle mass, decreased fat, increase libido and sexual performance, increased bone density etc) and the concerns of high estrogen (prostate issues, higher fat retention especially around the hips, thighs, chest and abdominal area) I decided I had to try it.

Not wanting to fall victim of the placebo effect, I figured I needed some hard data. Something to prove whether this had an effect on my body or if I was just wasting more money on another silly supplement.

Also, I coach & train people online, and what I teach and recommend must always go through a rigorous process - if there is no scientific proof, I want to either test it on myself or know people that I trust that have had great success. Whether it's a supplement, a training plan, or a dietary recommendation, everything must pass this 'test' of mine. Therefore, I need some hard evidence to prove whether XYZ is effective or not.

 

The Experiment

The obvious metric to test would be my Testosterone levels. Knowing that there is a big difference between total testosterone and free testosterone (total testosterone is the testosterone found in the blood, free testosterone is the biologically active - or 'useable' testosterone - that's not bound to sex hormone binding globulin), I knew I needed the gold standard of testosterone testing. The past 3 months prior to the experiment I didn't use any testosterone boosting herbal supplements. The lab samples were done over a weekend and on the monday (monday 27th July 2015) I begun my 8 week cycle of Aggressive Strength Testosterone Booster & Estrogen Control.

I decided to use both the Test booster & the estrogen control as my estrogen was still high on my last test (done late 2014). Mike Mahler (Aggressive Strengths manufacturer) recommends a cyclic approach to taking the herbs. 8 weeks on and 4 weeks off. So that's what I did. I will take these products every day (3 test boosters - 1in the AM, one midday pre training and 1 in the evening, and 2 Estrogen controls - 1 in the AM, 1 at night) for 8 weeks.

At the end of the 8 weeks I will retest my testosterone and estrogen numbers to see what change has happened.

Now this isn't going to met the academic journal standard in terms of experiment control, but it's enough data for me to know whether I (and my clients) should use a product or not.

The Product

What actually is Aggressive Strength Test Booster & Estrogen Control? It's a blend of proven & effective herbs that help boost testosterone & lower estrogen in various ways (whether it's increasing natural production, increasing the conversion of total testosterone to the readily used free testosterone, or working as a natural aromatase inhibitor).

The Testosterone Booster Caps contain:

  • Bulbine Natalensi - which has been shown in rat studies to increase testosterone by a whopping 347% and crush estrogen by 35%. Human feedback is also very positive

The Results

Update 1 - 7th September 2015 - My Starting Levels

So I've just received my pre Test Booster hormone results from Precision Analytical. Both my estrogen and testosterone are quite low. I'm 28 years old, and as you can see from the lab results below, both numbers are well in the low range:

Full Lab Results For the Pre Supplement Cycle (26/7/15)

DHEA - 3392

Testosterone - 36.2 ng/mg

5a-DHT - 5.4 ng/mg

5a-Androstanediol - 93.3 ng/mg

Total Estrogen - 14.3

E2 (Estradiol) - 0.8 ng/mg

 

Far from ideal, but it means I have plenty of room for improvement! Let's see how the aggressive strength test boosters work! I ran these results past Mike Mahler, and he suggested that I cease taking the Estrogen Control supplements, due to my already low estrogen levels, and upping the testosterone booster to 4 caps a day (from 3). He recommended using the Estrogen Control caps in the 4 week 'off cycle'. 

I have made these changes as of the 7th of September, and have decided I will do the hormone retest after 12 weeks instead of 8. Why? This way I will do one complete cycle - 8 weeks on the test booster followed by 4 weeks off the test booster but on the estrogen control.

I'll report back in a few weeks!

 

Update 2 - Post Cycle Levels - The results

After 12 weeks (8 using the test booster, and 4 weeks 'off cycle' using the estrogen control) I took my 2nd DUTCH test and sent them off to the labs. After what felt like an eternal wait, I finally received my results (20th November 2015).

So what happened? Well in a nutshell - My Testosterone Increased and My Estrogen Stayed about the same!

Let's have a closer look at the data:

  • Estrogen - Pre cycle my estrogen was 14.3, increasing slightly to 14.9 (so it has increased only 4.2% during the cycle).
  • Testosterone - pre cycle it was 36.2. Post cycle - 45.6! A whopping 26% increase!

26% increase in testosterone over 12 weeks taking Mike Mahler's Aggressive Strength, while estrogen remained pretty stable. I'll take that!

Before we look deeper into the results, I need to make one thing clear. This was far from being a 'controlled experiment' and the sample size was only me. Meaning there were other factors at play that could have caused the change. It is nearly impossible to do perform a controlled experiment that will accurately say whether the Aggressive Strength booster worked or not. I think the best way is to experiment on yourself and see if you notice change.

As you can see, all but one measurement have changed for the better. Though the estrogen total did increase slightly, I should point out two things:

  • My estrogen levels are actually quite low, so even though it has bumped up 4%, it is still in the low range.
  • My Estradiol figure remained flat after the 12 weeks. Estradiol is the potent form of estrogen that men need to be wary of.

On the testosterone front:

  • My total testosterone increased by 26% to 45.6 ng/mg. This increase is great, but it still leaves me with a pretty average, if not slightly low testosterone figure.
  • My 5a-DHT increased a staggering 52% Though there is good news and bad news. The good news is that 5a-DHT is the most potent androgen (3x more than testosterone). The bad news is that my figure at 8.2 is still considered low.
     
  • Meanwhile my 5a-Androstanediol figure increased 34% and is actually in the 'good range'.Some prefer this figure when looking at androgen levels.

Closing Thoughts

So there you have it. Based on my N=1 experiment, Mike Mahler's Aggressive Strength Testosterone Booster and Estrogen Control herbal blend does work. A 26% increase in total testosterone along with a boost in all my other androgen markers is very pleasing. Though my estrogen didn't fall, and instead increased slightly (4%) I wasn't worried as my numbers are quite low plus my estradiol figure remained flat.

Other than the labs, what else did I notice throughout this experiment? I had an increase in vigour - though it could still be better. I am definitely leaner than when I started (I tested my body fat % using the Skulpt Aim Body Fat Device and snapped the below photo 8 weeks into my cycle) and my strength continues to improve.

But at the end of the day its the lab results that matter the most!

Will I continue to take the test booster/estrogen control combo? Personally I will continue to cycle the testosterone booster, but I won't bother with the estrogen control supplement as my estrogen levels are pretty good already.

Would I recommend the combo to male clients? Yes I will. Obviously it will depend on their current hormone status (you can do your own testosterone testing through LetsGetChecked) but most men could do with a wee boost in their testosterone numbers!
